The primary purpose of this position as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position, is to collect and evaluate intelligence information, administer peacetime intelligence aircrew and internal training, maintain files and records, compile information for required operational reports, and disseminate both classified and unclassified publications and training material to aircrews.

Duties

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position; individuals selected for this an ART position must meet and maintain ART requirement. Applicants for ART position must currently be a member of the Air Force Reserve or willing and eligible to join the Air Force Reserves. Provides operational and target intelligence support to operations and command activities at the direction of ART intelligence officer. Briefs command and staff on real world topics and threats that could impact personnel or resources if unit or any of its subordinate activities. Manages and implements internal aircrew intelligence training (AIT) and aircrew training programs. Develops and implements appropriate instructional programs and provides weekday intelligence support to aircrew training efforts as needed. Establishes/maintains intelligence library/reference material. Implements and maintains a program for identifying, procuring, receiving, storing, and using classified and unclassified reference documents in a functional publications library. Supports intelligence mobility preparations. Plans, organizes, establishes, and assists in managing unit intelligence mobility capability for possible world-wide deployment to conditions ranging from fixed installation to bare-base operations in tents.

  • This position has been identified as a drug testing designated position. The incumbent of this position may be selected for random drug testing and be subject to reasonable suspicion testing.
  • The incumbent’s regular assignment consists primarily of ART duties; however, member may be given non-ART tasks not to exceed 30 percent of the total responsibilities.
  • The incumbent must meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to permit full participation in unit training assemblies.
  • This position requires knowledge of intelligence operations, plans, and programs.
  • The incumbent may be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft and perform off-station temporary duty (TDY) and travel.
  • The incumbent may have to work uncommon tour of duty on short notice.
  • Position is designated special-sensitive, incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

Qualifications

*********THIS IS AN AIR RESERVE TECHNICIAN (ART) POSITION*********** ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the Air Force (AF0 Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. They are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency. 1N071 - TSGT (E-6) This is a GG-09 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-09 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-09 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. To qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements describes in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: requires knowledge of an extensive body of rules, procedures, or operations requiring extended training and experience in order to perform a wide variety of interrelated or non-standard procedural assignments and resolve a wide range of problems; and practical knowledge of standard procedures in a technical field, requiring extended training or experience in order to perform such work as adapting equipment, when this requires considering the functioning characteristics of equipment; interpreting results of tests based on previous experience and observations, or extracting information from various sources when this requires considering the applicability of information and the characteristics and quality of sources. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of DoD, Air Force, AFRC and other policies and procedures as they relate to intelligence planning and programming operations, procedures, and aircrew training. Knowledge of intelligence planning and analysis including but not limited to: collection and reporting methods; techniques of identifying, collecting, and evaluation information to produce usable intelligence; capabilities and limitations of photo, electronic and visual reconnaissance; construction of mission folders; etc. Ability to conduct aircrew intelligence training sessions and prepare instructional materials. Knowledge of and ability to apply established intelligence practices to specific problems which involve many variables. Ability to apply qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques to a wide range of variables, and to be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
