This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Gerald R. Ford Presiential Library. Incumbent performs non-professional, quasi-professional, and technical work that supports access to archival holdings and control over records. Work encompasses a full range of archival support services to include reference, researcher assistance and other customer services, archival processing, accessioning, disposal, preserving, digitizing, and reformatting of records.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-05. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As an ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN, you will:
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Experience communicating with customers and responding to inquiries, verbally or in writing;
AND
Experience following and referencing policy and procedures
AND
Experience participating in digitization efforts, such as; converting textual records or other media to digital format or identifying or documenting metadata.
ORYou may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
