You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the N30, FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES of NB SAN DIEGO.
Duties
You will evaluate the work performance of junior firefighters or employees.
You will assign work to junior firefighters or employees based on priorities, requirements, and capabilities.
You will direct the deployment and use of firefighting equipment and personnel on the scene of emergencies.
You will analyze the environment (e.g., relationship between fuels, topography, wind, humidity) in the fire environment to ensure use of the correct firefighting apparatus.
You will use fire suppression systems (e.g., wet and dry sprinkler systems, deluge systems, carbon dioxide, dry chemical systems) to extinguish fires.
You will monitor a patient's baseline vital signs (e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse) during a medical emergency.
You will perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or automatic external defibrillation (AED) during respiratory and cardiac emergencies.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- Employee is required to work a 72-hour week on a 24 hour on, 24 hour off basis, which includes weekends and holidays. Subject to mandatory overtime and recall.
- Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.
- Position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
- May be required to participate on Hazardous Materials teams.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Leading the day-to-day operations for assigned shift providing guidance on firefighter related procedures; 2) Fighting structural and/or airfield fires using pre-fire planning methods and knowledge of layouts and design; 3) Operating firefighting emergency vehicles and equipment; 4) Providing hazardous material incident response; and, 5) Providing basic life support procedures as needed for each emergency call.DoD Certifications Required: Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, HAZMAT Incident Commander, and Airport Firefighter. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
