Duties

You will install, maintain and repair a variety of complex equipment and systems involving power boilers with complicated components, critical requirements, and rigid tolerances. You will ensure all safety procedures and environmental control safeguards are followed. You will maintain remote heating boilers and perform major overhauls of the entire system including repair, replacement, and installation of boilers and equipment. You will perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on plant systems and equipment. You will monitor and test the operation of power boiler systems to identify malfunctions and potential problems with equipment.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position may be considered Essential and you will be required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to do the work of a Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision such as: 1) Installing, maintaining and repairing a variety of steam and hot water equipment systems involving power boilers with complicated components, critical requirements and rigid tolerance; 2) Monitoring and adjusting thermostats, switches, regulators, and other safety devices and alarm systems in compliance with established safety standards; 3) Troubleshooting and repairing pollution control equipment; and 4) Using electronic controls, devices and automatic boiler management systems to identify equipment malfunctions.
