You will serve as a NUCLEAR DIRECTOR in the NUCLEAR PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT, OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide oversight and evaluation of nuclear training to ensure directives and goals are being met.
You will evaluate performance of subordinates and hold subordinates responsible for satisfactory completion of quality nuclear work.
You will manage workforce training to ensure qualified personnel are available for planned or unplanned emergent nuclear work.
You will assure that procedures, while fully adequate, are economical and do not unnecessarily impair or retard overall work procedures and operations.
You will oversee and direct training efforts over multiple Navy Bases and in geographical locations.

- Relocation expenses (i.e. PCS) may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience managing and organizing work performed by various trades consisting of, but not limited to, pipefitters, insulators, primary/secondary valve mechanics, other in accomplishing highly diverse and complex trade operations.
Experience analyzing problems within shop work practices/training programs and recommending corrective actions as needed.
Experience in various trade processes, skills, operations, and knowledge of practices in ship repair.
Experience providing oversight and evaluation of all nuclear training to include proficiency training, radiological proficiency training and shops skills to ensure training meets mechanical skills needed to support the customer.
Experience developing short and long range training plans to provide qualified manning, to support scheduled and unscheduled nuclear production work for the various shops.
