Duties
Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately March to November, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
Major Duties Statement
The position is a Maintenance Worker for the Blue Ridge Parkway. The position is duty stationed at the Bluffs Sub-District located in Alleghany County, North Carolina. This position assists journey-level, or other higher graded maintenance workers under general supervision in general landscaping and grounds maintenance, basic carpentry, simple electrical installations or repairs, basic plumbing work, and painting interior and exterior surfaces, and perform a variety of janitorial services. Removes trash and debris from roadway and road sites. Operates farm type tractors and associated attachments used to mow maintained roadside landscape areas. Operates trucks up to 1-ton to pick up supplies, transport materials to and from work site, picking up materials from local vendors, or plowing snow as needed.

Alleghany County, North Carolina - The duty station is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Bluffs Maintenance Area, which is located near Laurel Springs, North Carolina. Laurel Springs is located approximately 10 miles from Sparta, North Carolina and approximately 15 miles from West Jefferson, North Carolina.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-08/30/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience.
