About the Position: The Savannah District Office is located in the downtown historic district (largest in the nation) where you can live and walk to work. Gorgeous weather! Savannah is located on the Georgia/South Carolina border on the Atlantic Ocean and is easily accessible by I-95 and I-16. It is located approximately 89 miles from Charleston, SC, and 225 miles from Atlanta, GA. Savannah/Chatham County boasts a diversified industry and the population is approximately 240,000.
Duties
Coordinates, formulates, and executes the management of natural resources on Project Lands.
Prepares the Environmental Stewardship budget, provides input to other business line budgets as appropriate.
Works with state, federal, local, and other agency representatives, grantees, and others in planning and promoting cooperation and coordination of joint activities.
Implement management activities that benefit environmental protection, water quality, recreation, soils, wildlife, and land development.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Percentage of time spent TDY is 20%.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

Basic Requirement for Natural Resources Program Manager:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
GS-11:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience managing, directing, or serving as a program specialist in implementing programs related to natural resources management activities at water resource development projects; and the protection, conservation or management of park or other public land areas with a mission of resource preservation and providing for visitor recreation. Such programs would include, facility management, cultural or natural resource management, recreation management, interpretation, regulatory enforcement involving the protection of natural or cultural resources, shoreline management, or other programs directly related to recreation, natural resources, or shoreline management on a multi-purpose water resource project. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the field(s) of study.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-12:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing master plan, operational management plans, or shoreline management plans for the development and administration of civil works water resource development lakes; applying professional knowledge of biological systems, land management principles and park management to conduct studies to determine public use requirements and changes in the environment caused by the multi-purpose operations; developing and executing the planning, management operation, and maintenance of natural and constructed resources and ensuring compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11 or above.
