About the position: This position will be assigned to the Child and Youth Services Flight- Youth Center.
Duties
Oversees the administrative management of the reception area of a Child Development or Youth Program.
Receives children, youth, parents, and other visitors in a courteous manner. Answers main telephone, ascertain nature of call and direct caller to appropriate staff, takes a message or personally provides desired information.
Provides customer service expected in a "First Choice" organization. Utilizes Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) to oversee the collection, accurate accounting and reporting of funds; and to collect and maintain up-to-date statistical data for planning and reporting purposes IAW higher headquarters and statutory requirements.
Utilizes an electronic cash register system and calculator to compute and record individual transactions for customers and to enter data into predefined categories for regulatory-signed statistical reports and tracking of income data as it pertains to the program.
Provides administrative support including typing/word processing, mail preparation, copying, distribution, telephone calls, and travel orders for personnel. Using office automation equipment and word processing software, prepares a variety of correspondence, memorandums, briefings and Daily Activity and other reports required for day-to-day operation.
Refers to agency regulations, flip charts, dictionaries, and other typical office reference materials to ensure proper format, grammatical accuracy, and correct spelling.
Maintains records, files, statistical data, and suspense system. Prepares invoices, supply and equipment requests. Uses E-Mail to send and retrieve messages. Understands and articulates policies relating to patron fees, waiting lists and program events. Coordinates vacancies and occupancy rates as required.
Ensures risk management procedures (i.e., abuse prevention, identification, and reporting procedures; accident prevention, etc.) are followed. Monitors supplies and resources.
Orders office supplies.
Assists in facility key control. Maintains time and attendance cards.
Opens center in the morning and closes center in the evening.
Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age of 18 and a favorable fitness determination to do so.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain current record of immunization
- To be considered for this position, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and must reside in/around the area as noted in the Job Opportunity Announcement

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Applicant must have experience in responsible clerical or office work in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position.
Possess the ability to communicate in English effectively, orally and in writing.
Skill in operating current automation system and software (Microsoft Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel) required.
Must be able to type 40 wpm.
Experience which as demonstrated arithmetic aptitude and ability, accuracy and attention to detail, progressively responsible experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody, or other processing of cash and cash items.
Position is a position of trust.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
Must be able to satisfactorily complete an Installation Records Checks (IRC), State Criminal History Repository Check (SCHRC) and National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Must be able to obtain Food Handlers Certificate.
Pass a physical examination.
Have required immunizations.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
