About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist at the USSOUTHCOM-Combatant Commander-Command Group-Special Staff-Public Affairs in Miami, FL.

Duties

Serve as a Supervisor of the Media Relations and Digital Communications Division of the SOUTHCOM Public Affairs Office. Set priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work. Provide supervisory direction for the development and writing of informational materials designed to reach international audiences through the news media. Establish and develop relationships with media representatives and public affairs personnel of specialized groups. Recommend strategies regarding the development of communication plans throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a top-secret security clearance.
  • Drug testing is required for this position.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in Spanish is not required but preferred.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
