This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command. The incumbent will be responsible for providing legal assistance, administrative, and office automation services to support the military and civilian attorneys and other legal specialist assigned to the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate.
Duties
As a LEGAL ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION) at the NK-0986-2 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Providing legal administrative support to the staff of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate.
Providing guidance to clients.
Reviewing and preparing correspondence and reports.
Screening requests for assistance submitted to the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, referring them to the appropriate subject matter expert, and then reviewing the final products on behalf of the supervising attorneys.
Planning, managing, and prioritizing operations for the staff and leadership of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate.
Requirements

- This position may require employee to work extended hours or other than normal hours to include evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to obtain and retain a Government-issue travel card to be used for official business.
- Must be able to function as a Notary Public (see Additional Information section).
Qualifications
You may qualify at the NK-02 level if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NK-01 (GS-04) grade level in the Federal service:
Performing research or assisting in trial preparation for civil or criminal litigation
Providing administrative services in support of attorneys and paralegals
Applying knowledge of the Federal Government's structure, responsibilities, policies, and programs to provide legal support
You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
