You will serve as an Equipment Specialist in the Source Development Department, Airframes Division, for NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.
Duties
You will provide manufacturing and quality assurance expertise to Defense Logistics Agency activities, other services (domestic and foreign), and contractors in addition to naval aviation support.
You will perform extensive industry research to identify potential sources of supply and initiate the actions necessary to obtain the required data from contractors.
You will request engineering data including detail drawings and specifications from the Naval Air Technical Services Facility (NATSF) via automated as well as manual methods.
You will be responsible for performing evaluation of requests for source approval submitted by private industry sources desiring to be approved for manufacture and/or repair as well as for approval of government sources.
You will perform cost-benefit analysis, taking into consideration testing, cost, production lead times, and risks (both technical and logistical), prior to authorizing approval of alternate sourcing efforts.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing knowledge of aircraft and airframe systems repair; 2) Evaluating technical documentation including procedures, test requirements, and repair instructions required to establish a new source of supply for repair of critical and complex airframe equipment; 3) Analyzing manufacturing process data, engineering drawings and specifications, and contractor performance data to develop contract requirements; 4) Maintaining a number of automated databases in the performance of duties; and 5) Analyzing available data to determine risks associated with establishment of alternate manufacturing sources.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
