This position is located within the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG); Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Audit, Cyberspace Operations Directorate.
The incumbent of the position will serve as an Information Technology Specialist in support of multiple audit teams that are responsible for planning and conducting audits of DoD information technology and cyber programs, functions, systems, and operations.
Duties
Identifies tactics, techniques, and procedures for gathering information technology and cyber-related information and provides technical information or interpretations of policies and procedures for networks, systems, and applications.
Performs or directs important technical testing and ensures work supports audit findings.
Prepares timely, understandable, and convincing audit reports and other written documentation and ensures technical accuracy of reports and other documentation from an information technology/cyber and audit perspective.
Identifies causes of deficiencies or problems and provides recommendations for corrective actions and evaluates the adequacy of those corrective actions.
Reviews the work of others to ensure information technology and cyber-related findings and recommendations are fully developed and supported. Advises on cyber and information technology-related issues.
Requirements

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment, and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
- The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.
- Position has been designated as TS/SCI Special Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.

Experience:
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate

Specialized Experience:
Specialized Experience Definition: Directly related experience needed to successfully perform the duties required of the position.
You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the Federal service or at an equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience that involves information technology and cybersecurity by:
Applying advanced principals, concepts, methods, standards, and practices to protect systems, networks, and data.
Understanding emerging technology and complex issues.
Providing advice on work methods, practices, and procedures that assists others in developing practical solutions.
Planning and executing complex audits of systems, networks, and data.
Expressing findings and recommendations in writing and in convincing oral presentations.
You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions: Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 (Alternative A) (opm.gov)
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
Only experience and/or education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
