About the Position: This position is located with the Headquarters Department of Army (HQDA), Chief of Staff Army, Army Protocol Office, Pentagon/Arlington, VA.

Duties

Plan, coordinate, and execute high level (White House, Congress, DoD, Government Industry and other) military and civilian, foreign and domestic visits, functions, ceremonies and special events hosted by the senior Department of Army leadership. Work closely with customers to provide appropriate guidance on established requirements (i.e., receiving lines, flag display, seating arrangement, VIP courtesies, invitations and RSVP, ticket sales and money collection). Coordinate and execute the planning and implementation of special events (i.e., Medal of Honor, Cultural Observances, Army Birthday celebrations, forums, luncheons, and dinners). Ensure the proper use of Official Representation Funds and applies the guidance set forth in Army Regulation (AR) 37-47pertaining to ratios of Authorized and DoD guests. Support the Chief, Ceremonies, Special Events and Protocol Training in identifying, analyzing, and evaluating the need for formal protocol training for professional Army protocol staff worldwide.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
  • This is a testing designated position. Personnel are required to sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes facilitating all protocol aspects of visits and events for high-ranking dignitaries; advising on proper protocol procedures; coordinating with internal and external personnel to execute event plans; Planning and implementing protocol etiquette and procedures for casual to formal social events (i.e., lunches, dinners, receptions, military balls). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AdaptabilityAdministration and ManagementAttention to DetailPolitical Savvy Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
