This is a flexible position; you are not guaranteed any hours but can work up to 40 a week.
Duties
This position is located in the Youth Center of the 81th Force Support Squadron Keesler AB. The incumbent is responsible for managing the Youth Instructional program. Provides the base community with a variety of classes/activities to choose from. Class curriculum complements and/or encourages participant's personal development through a variety of recreational activities/programs such as education, career enhancement, character and leadership development, artistic ability, health and life skills, and sports and fitness. Coordinates all necessary requirements for instructional classes i.e., facility availability, social media management, equipment, supplies, and safety/fire requirements. Works closely with Marketing department to develop marketing plans to publicize classes and recruit students as well as instructors. Responsible for creating attractive media advertisements (social media, radio, video, magazine, flyers) to entice participation. Prepares and routes for approval person services contracts. Monitor contracts to ensure instructors are in compliance with agreed terms. Initiates contract termination procedures for voided agreements. Coordinates background checks on all prospective instructors before they are hired in accordance with AFI 34-144. Works closely with instructors to maximize class participation. Maintains class attendance records and submits monthly report of attendance to Youth Programs Director. Develops new programs/events to effectively meet the needs of the base community. Conducts surveys to gauge interest for new classes. Works closely with the operations clerks to ensure payments, files and records are maintained and up to date with all required information as outlined in AFI 34-144. Understands, prepares, and executes NAF financial budget. Occasionally performs as Facility Manager on Duty for short periods of time. Performs other duties as assigned. May work an uncommon tour of duty which may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to position.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations this includes annual influenza vaccinations and be free of all communicable diseases.
- This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
- This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing.

Qualifying Experience:
Must meet specific physical requirements, pass a physical examination and have required immunizations. Must be able to lift 40 lbs or more and stand for long periods of time. Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate instructional programs which meets the needs of the participating community. Must have skills in effectively managing available/ applicable resources. Must have experience in responsible clerical or office work of any kind which demonstrates the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Must be able to multi-task. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Knowledge of contract negotiation and processing highly desirable. Must have working knowledge of computer systems and operating systems to include MS Office Software: Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Must satisfactorily pass background checks as in accordance with AFI 34-144 to include Tier 1; Installation Records Checks, National Agency Check and State Criminal History Records Check.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
