The primary purpose is to maintain the grounds for good appearance of yards, fences, trees, bushes and signs. This position is located at the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Administrative Services, Facility Management's Quarters and Hospital Grounds, Chinle, Arizona.

Duties

Collects, disposes trash and debris from parking lots, driveways, transient/vacant quarters. Cut weeds, grass and unwanted plants collects and remove from site. Dig ditches and trenches with pick and shovel where dirt is hard and compacted. Cleans, sweeps, seal cracks to sidewalks, asphalt pavement and curbing around driveways, parking lots and crosswalks. Make minor repairs to concrete and asphalt. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and walkways. Assist with maintenance and repair work in various trades including preventive maintenance and renovation. Operate Bobcat and 3 point hitch tractor in areas that require constant attention.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: No specific length of experience is required. Applicants will be rated on the basis of their response to the assessment questions included in the vacancy announcement and the information contained in their resume. Perform complex Laborer tasks including completing special assignments involving several steps, phases or detailed procedures such as performing grounds keeping maintenance by collect, dispose trash and debris, maintain trees and shrubs trimming and cutting with chain saws, axes and other cutting tools or devices, maintain landscape areas by seeding, fertilizing and watering, use pick or shovels to dig ditches and trenches; keep roads and pathways maintained. Seal cracks in sidewalks, asphalt pavement and curbs around driveways, parking lots and crosswalks, make minor repairs of concrete and asphalt, dig up underground sewer/water or irrigation lines using appropriate tools or devices. Ensure site drainage pipes flumes swale and ditches are kept free of blow-sand debris and weeds. With a high degree of independence use mechanical or hand equipment, i.e., 753 Bobcat, driven type 3point hitch tractor with attachments such as mower, leveling blade, auger, street sweeper and snow blower, operate Cushman vehicle or a weight handling devices such as electric hand trucks or lifts, pallet jacks and dollies to move heavy loads. Physical Effort: Grade 4 laborers exert very heavy physical effort in operating large, riding mowers on grades and in areas with bushes, trees, and other visible obstacles that require significant maneuvering and lever control. Employees at this level frequently lift and move equipment and components weighing over 23 kilograms (50 pounds). Working Conditions: At this level laborers work outside in all kinds of weather, and inside in areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy. The equipment, tools, and tasks involved at this level frequently require extreme care and use of safety gloves, ear plugs, safety glasses, or respirators to avoid severe injuries. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
