You will serve as the Division Chief of the Automation Standards Division, in the Office of Automation Safety under the Associate Administrator for Rulemaking for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). You will lead the development of new safety standards and regulations as well as the refinement of existing Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) in connection with Automated Driving Systems ranging from partially automated to fully automated vehicles.

Qualifications
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.
To qualify for the Grade 15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the GS-14, it must include:
Experience in leading people, products, and services in support and development of rulemakings, policy, industry standards, and/or motor vehicle equipment relating to the safety activities of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Experience in evaluating, interpreting, and/or applying Federal laws, regulations, and/ or vehicle standards to the management of operations and budgets for transportation safety programs.
Experience communicating, coordinating and collaborating with agency, federal partners, industry and stakeholders on matters related to transportation safety.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Ability to influence, motivate, leads others, and adapt to leadership styles in a variety of situations.
Knowledge of processes, principles, and stakeholder interests related to the development and promulgation of Federal motor vehicle laws and regulations.
Understands the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes federal partners, industry, and stakeholders on matters related to transportation safety.
