This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Expert Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Joint Forces Headquarters DODIN.
Duties
Responsible for monitoring Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) network data sources to detect, monitor, characterize and assess penetrations of the DOD computing environment, domain boundaries, network assets, and infrastructures.
Collect event data and analyze current and emerging network events and incidents to determine impact to current and future operations.
Conduct analysis, provide situational awareness (SA), and develop course of action (COA) recommendations for the Joint Force Headquarters-DODIN (JFHQ-DODIN) leadership to make informed decisions that enhance DODIN security posture.
Coordinate and synchronize incident responses across the DODIN. Track, report, and brief incidents to JFHQ-DODIN leadership.
Coordinate/lead reporting of security incidents between HQ, DOD components, Partner Organizations and US Cyber Command.
Prepare and present incident and threat report briefings. Recommend network defense and mitigation measures; and develop/direct tactics, techniques, and procedures.

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience conducting analysis of cyber network defense event/incidents providing situational awareness AND developing course of action recommendations to enhance the security posture of communications and information systems.
