This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Performs trouble analysis and final alignment of multisystem complexes consisting of several complete integrated systems.

Duties

Repair, overhaul, modify, align, test, and troubleshoot guided missile systems composed of a number of individual complete integrated systems that are linked together to form a multiple electronic integrated system. Use a broad range of electronic principles as well as knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, optics, or pneumatics to correct malfunctions. Perform unit, direct, and general support maintenance as specified in appropriate technical manuals on all maintained equipment. Troubleshoot to diagnose malfunctions by applying electronic theory and systems analysis procedures; identifies the malfunction; and determines the category of maintenance required. Repair or replace component parts in assemblies and subassemblies. Tests repaired assemblies and electronic integrated systems to assure equipment is operational in accordance with applicable technical manuals or directives.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to random drug testing IAW Drug-Free Federal Workplace requirements set forth in DODI 1010.09.
  • Incumbent may be required to work overtime, perform shift work, or work in various locations as dictated by mission requirements, and up to 20% Temporary Duty (TDY).

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Follow drawings of electronic systems to trace the effect of a change in one electronic integrated system to other connected integrated systems; and repair, align, adjust, rebuild and overhaul major electronic integrated systems. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves light to moderate physical exertion to include bending, standing, crouching sometimes in awkward positions, possibly for extended periods of time on concrete or composition floors. Physical effort is required in removing, installing, lifting, and carrying assemblies and hardware weighing 10 to 40 pounds, and occasionally objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Maybe required to climb 10 to 50 foot tower. Muscular exertion is required in manipulating tools. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside on concrete floors, blacktop hardstands, and occasionally in a field training environment. Incumbent may be required to work around high noise areas and during inclement weather. Occasionally required to wear protective goggles and safety hat. May be required to wear safety shoes at all times. Incumbent i subject to injuries such as burns or other serious accidents from working on high voltage electronic equipment. Is subject to falls from catwalks and overhead mishaps from suspended equipment, from cuts and bruises, shock caused by handling equipment, soldering irons, high voltage energy, radiation, etc.
