About the Position:The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance.

Duties

Inspect containers for integrity of waste, has proper labeling and wastes are stored in proper containers with proper liners; transports fuels, hazardous materials, regulated and/or non-regulated wastes; picks-up and transports empty containers. Responsible for picking up all Hazardous materials located throughout CCAD, segregating chemicals by Hazard class, containing in approved/authorized Department of Transportation (DOT) containers and preparing the required turn-in documents. Responsible for warehouse operations of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes; conducts daily inspections to determine repair/replacement, deteriorated containers, leakage, spills and any condition with potential for a Notice of Violation (NOV). Maintain waste profiles of all regulated and non-regulated waste streams; reviews analytical reports and assures proper description of waste and proper labeling requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a personnel security background check (Tier 1 – Non-Sensitive, Low Risk).
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to undergo a physical examination initially, and annually thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo a pre-employment drug test screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • This position may be subject to a one-year probationary period.
  • Must be willing to travel on Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 5% of the time.
  • This position requires an OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour initial safety and health training (29 CFR 1910.120) and 8-hour annual refresher training.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid government driver’s license.
  • Respirator and fitness test certification is required annually.
  • This position is subject to call out and after-hours duty for equipment failures or required emergency repairs and storm or disaster recovery.

Is constantly exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, grease, cleaning agents, and chemicals. Possibility of falls, cuts, bruises, scares, burns from steam, also skin, nose, and eye irritation. May be required to wear protective clothing such as apron, gloves, boots, hat, face shield, respirator, safety glasses, or earplugs.
