Duties

This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021. This position is being filled under AcqDemo Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) for non-acquisition positions involving 51% or more of time in direct support of acquisition positions within Business and Technical Management Professional Career path. As a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/PLCYPLN) at the NH-2210-3 some of your typical work assignments may include: Analyzes and recommends trade-offs of performance and capabilities of software applications against user requirements with implementation teams, customers and program managers (PMs). Develops IT/cybersecurity/data acquisition strategies, policies, and plans and/or advocates for changes in policy that support organizational initiatives or required changes/enhancements. - Ensures cloud-sourced information security products and services are delivered to meet or exceed statutory and regulatory requirements. Provides guidance to customers about applicability of information systems to meet business needs. Provides the leadership, direction, and resources to acquire, develop, and defend superior information systems, and services for the Command's IT, cybersecurity, and data Programs of Record (PoR) that deliver timely and affordable capabilities to the warfighter

Requirements

• Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
• This is a cybersecurity position. The employee must attain and maintain the appropriate DoD-approved foundational and residential qualification for cybersecurity functions required for the DoD position held IAW DoDM 8140
• A graduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field is highly desirable.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NH 3 , if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-2 (GS-11) grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Utilizing advanced analytical skills to perform cyber capability planning and deliver strategic business capabilities Establishing quantitative IT evaluation criteria used to analyze system data and develop hardware and software assessment studies Validating Information Technology requirements for compliance with Federal and DoD regulatory and statutory guidance - Developing and implementing IT governance policies and procedures. Developing and implementing IT governance policies and procedures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210, series as listed below: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
