OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.
Duties
As an Information Technology Specialist, you will:
Serve as the technical expert and leads work on a variety of complex projects dealing with the entire System Development Life Cycle of the Office of Inspector General automated information systems and network. The incumbent leads projects to develop criteria, standards, policies, procedures, documentation, as well as implementation, maintenance and retirement of systems and IT equipment
Serve as the Office of Inspector Generals technical expert on all projects involving the use of Multi-Tier Applications (Database, Operating System, Webserver, etc.).
Interact with system customers and makes technical proposals regarding new systems, changes to existing requirements, contacts department experts, consults with other system users and contractors, and confers with subject matter experts to ensure requirements have been correctly and thoroughly defined.
Maintain liaison with Office of Inspector General elements as agency technical expert to plan and develop recommendations for assigned project activities for more effective use of automated information systems.
Serve as a leader in all aspects of the SDLC of systems and hardware within the Office of Inspector General.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience or General experience for this position includes:
Experience in managing and optimizing ITSM tools and processes, such as ITIL implementation, service desk management, and change management systems; AND
Demonstrated expertise in optimizing and automating ITSM workflows and integrating ITSM tools with other enterprise systems, such as CMDB and HR systems; AND
Experience with planning and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity strategies within an ITSM framework.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
