Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Supervisory Interdisciplinary (Natural Resources Specialist/Physical Scientist). Duty Location: Boulder City, Nevada Open to current permanent Bureau of Reclamation employees duty location Boulder City, NV and CTAP eligibles (local commuting area).

Duties

Primary duties of this temporary position are as follows: As the Wildlife Group Manager, this position provides supervision, direction, oversight, control, and coordination of group programs. Develops and maintains close and cooperative working relationships with MSCP partner agencies; landowners; land managers; Federal, State, and local governments; conservation organizations; and regulatory bodies, on the lower Colorado River. Represents and coordinates Reclamation's input on, and review of, proposed habitat creation and management, and MSCP conservation strategies and alternatives. Manages the Group's involvement and technical input to support major and complex environmental and ESA consultations.

This is a detail or temporary promotion as an interdisciplinary position that may be filed in any of the following series: Physical Scientist, GS-1301 or Natural Resource Specialist, GS-0401 depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-0401, NATURAL RESOURCES SPECIALIST: Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. -OR- 2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-1301, PHYSICAL SCIENTIST: 1. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. -OR- 2. Combination of education and experience: education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience, or additional education. In addition to meeting the educational requirements above: GS-13: In order to qualify for the GS-13 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent in complexity and difficulty to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for GS-13: Defined as experience leading a multi- disciplined team performing a wide range of studies; implementing and overseeing a monitoring and research program; maintaining awareness of covered species and existing habitats; and guiding selection and application of conservation techniques. Experience should also demonstrate the ability to provide supervision, leadership and guidance to subordinate staff on natural resources initiatives, environmental and/or biological activities. Supervisory Competencies: Applicants should possess proficiency or the potential to develop proficiency in the following competencies for successful performance of Federal supervisory work: (accountability, customer service, decisiveness, flexibility, integrity/honesty, interpersonal skills, oral communication, problem solving, resilience, and written communication). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 08/26/2024.

Education

This position has a mandatory education requirement. You must submit a copy of college transcript(s) (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. Non-submission will result in being rated not-qualified for the position.

You will be required to provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications, if selected. An official transcript must be sent directly from the University's Registrar's office and must be provided from the institution awarding the degree. Academic transcripts certified by notary publics are NOT official. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to reporting to work as a condition of employment. Failure to submit official transcripts may be grounds for dismissal or rescission of the job offer.

Accreditation: Only education from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education is acceptable to meet education requirements or to substitute for experience, if applicable. Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.
