This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center/Command (ALC), Long Range Surveillance Product Line (LRS), LRS PDM Branch, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Duties

This position's primary purpose is to perform typical journey-level Aircraft Mechanic duties and in addition, perform aircraft engine/APU run-ups, head turns, and/or aircraft taxi duties plus senior journey-level troubleshooting duties on a regular and recurring basis.

Requirements

• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
• Applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.
• Obtain and Maintain Aircraft engine run-up and/or taxi certification.
• Occasional Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) is required.
• Subject to overtime or recall.
• Rotating shift work may be required.
• May be required to fly on Coast Guard aircraft.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (Screen-out Element) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation repair etc. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of measuring instruments Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Troubleshooting National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
