We are seeking a Deputy Chief of our Materials Management and Environmental Services Department (MMESD). This position serves as the alter ego to the MMESD Chief overseeing a dynamic team. Our ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare materials program management; managing a diverse staff; and identifying medical materials and equipment specialized requirements.
Duties
In this position as a Supervisory General Supply Specialist, you would serve as the Deputy Chief of MMESD. We are seeking a candidate that has experience in Healthcare Materials Program Management, managing staff, and identifying specialized requirements of medical materials, equipment and facilitating staff operations. Having a background in developing budget and cost saving strategies is also highly desirable for this position. Your duties would include, but are not limited to:
Setting the strategic direction for the Department and determining the necessary goals, objectives and initiatives to achieve the strategic direction and developing plans to implement them.
Overseeing the procurement and contractual relations in the Materials Management and Environmental Services Department (MMESD) and serving as Level Ill Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
Managing resources allocated to the program including identifying and justifying needs for additional resources or redeploying resources in new ways to meet the needs of the Department and the initiatives of the CC.
Developing and implementing performance evaluation plans for subordinate employees.
Monitoring and evaluating supply management functions to ensure that they conform to supply management principles and regulatory requirements.
Establishing quality assurance program goals for a supply management organization or program.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

- The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and similar activities in and around storage areas and the Clinical Center.
- The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts, or machines.
- The incumbent may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves.
Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Overseeing staff within a supply program that includes acquisition, property, inventory, storage and distribution of materials, and supplies and equipment; assisting in developing supply management program budget; monitoring contract performance for compliance; and assisting in maintaining quality assurance program goals for a supply management organization or program.
