You will serve as a NURSE (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH) in the Navy Medical Forces Pacific of NAVMEDFORPAC SAN DIEGO CA. This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will serve as an Occupational Health Nurse and principal consultant for the management of Occupational Health programs. You will conduct Occupational Health evaluations (assist visits) and make recommendations for improvement. You will augment medical and regional Inspector Generals to evaluate Occupational Health programs. You will resolve Occupational Health issues through collaborative planning and coordination with other healthcare professionals. You will recommend cost effective approaches to conserve resources.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Developing and managing Occupational Health programs; Monitoring, evaluating, and recommending Occupational Health resource needs; Conducts annual assessments of all commands to ensure compliance with Occupational Medicine/Health Instructions; Plans, develops and conduct seminars and training courses; Initiates interpretative guidance of instructions and current information for nurse and other medical professionals to assist in program improvement; AND Makes recommendations involving nurse practice issues to higher authorities for consideration (Reviews guidelines, Navy policies, American Association of Occupational Health Nursing guidance and community standards of practice).
