The Aircrew Program Manager (APM) is responsible for the adequacy of aircrew ground and flight
training/testing and standards for specific aircraft of an assigned air carrier. The APM manages programs
on assigned aircraft including designated examiners and/or Aircrew Program Designees (APD).
Duties
The Aircrew Program Manager (APM) is responsible for overseeing a fleet of aircraft which are part of a
complex aviation organization operating turbojet aircraft engaged in passenger and freight service. The
APM will carry out assignments that require knowledge and experience of flight operation of the assigned
aircraft and are responsible for oversight of flight operation procedures, training programs and airmen
certification. Assignments typically involve overseeing carriers operating domestically which include
regional jet fleets, or other fleets that are novel and complex as defined under 14 CFR Part 61 and involve
critical and important areas of operations with the highest risk to the National Aerospace System.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

- Selectee will be required to report to an AVS/FAA facility.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements for an Aviation Safety Inspector in the 1825 series as outlined in the OPM qualifications standards. When applicable, applicants must meet job-related medical requirements which will be assessed and validated during the pre-employment process.Medical Requirements: Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviation Safety Inspector position in a safe and efficient manner, with or without a reasonable accommodation. The minimum medical requirements include the following requirements:Have good distant vision in each eye and be able to read, without strain, printed materials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted);Have the ability to hear the conversational voice (hearing aid permitted); andNot have any physical condition that would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others that would interfere with their ability to operate/occupy a flight deck observer’s seat (jumpseat) or a cabin passenger seat in a variety of aircraft.Applicants for Aviation Safety Inspector, (Flight Oversight) positions must meet all of the following requirements.At least 1 year of pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight.Not more than 2 flying accidents during the last 5 years in which the applicant's pilot error was involved.Three years of experience working in an organization with an air carrier, commercial operator, or air agency certificate, an organization whose work led to the certification of individual airmen, or an organization that operated aircraft. At least one year of this experience must be with an organization that also operated multi-engine aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds maximum takeoff weight..Airline Transport Pilot CertificateMinimum 1,500 total flight hours.(Recency of experience is waived for current FAA employees in the 1825 series)ANDIn addition to meeting the minimum requirements, applicants for the FG-13 level must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next to lower grade level in the normal line of progression (FG-12 or Pay Band H), as an Aviation Safety Inspector. Specialized experience is:Analyzing reports to ensure compliance with operations programs.Conducting enforcement investigations and preparation of final reports and recommendations on dispositions.Work involving a wide range of assignments or a few highly complex tasks, requiring the employee to plan and organize, set priorities, and work without clear or specific guidelines.For Lateral Movements Between 1825 Specialties: To assist in determining qualification requirements, applicants transferring between specialties at the same grade level are strongly encouraged to complete the appropriate Qualifications Assessment Tool (QAT) check sheet and upload it along with their resume.
