About the position: This position will be assigned to The Edwards Library located on EAFB.
Responsible for all programming operations.
The function of the organization where this position is located is to provide general library services such as customer and reference services. The purpose of this position is to develop, implement, and lead programming for patrons of all ages.
Duties
Responsible for all programming operations.
Develops and implements programs to accommodate the wide range of interests for library patrons.
Ensures that program activities emphasize those activities most appropriate to the interest and developmental needs of the population served.
Administers library programs and prepares after-action reports and conducts evaluations of library program successes and failures.
Conduct evaluations and surveys with patrons to ensure appropriate programming is being developed and administered.
Coordinates the development and implementation of library programs in accordance with supervisory librarian's recommendations and guidance.
Develops marketing and publicity materials (print and electronic) for review and approval.
Prepares and maintains weekly/monthly/annual programming statistics.
Complies an annual programming binder containing marketing and public relations materials for all library programs.
Assists the supervisory librarian in preparing
information packages submitted with the Library Annual report, as well as other weekly, quarterly, and annual packages.
Assists the supervisory librarian in developing the library marketing plan.
Represents the library at public relations meetings including but not limited to marketing, Family Support, Base Education and Public Affairs.
Attends/represents library other base meetings/events as assigned.
Is the library liaison and meets on
a regular basis with marketing and sponsorship staff to ensure marketing and publicity materials for library programs are adequate and correct.
Develops new program concepts for library and submits to supervisory librarian for approval.
Selects and evaluates office materials for program development and support.
Performs periodic inventory of craft and other programming supplies.
Assists the supervisory librarian with developing program supply lists.
Conducts and performs library tours and orientations as needed.
Submits marketing and publicity materials to marketing and sponsorship to meet marketing/sponsorship requirements and deadlines.
Assists in providing ready reference services to library customers.
Refers difficult reference questions to the senior technician or librarian.
Assists library users with library equipment.
Performs routine clerical tasks.
Uses varied and advanced functions of work processing software to prepare, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other text documents.
Receives and transmits electronic mail and attachments.
Assists at the circulation desk as needed.
Refers difficult questions/problems concerning work processes to the appropriate staff member.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- Must complete pre-employment physical within 60 days of hire.
- May be required to work shift work to include evening, weekends, Holidays and special event.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience in a library that provided specific knowledge of library rules, policies, and procedures for circulation and technical service and/or prior experience in program development for a variety of ages.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Must have experience or training that demonstrates the ability to perform computer data processing.
Must have typing experience. Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring activities such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching; pushing loaded book trucks; and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items.
Must be physically able to frequently lift boxes of up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to reach up to 72 inches with or without the assistance of a step stool
Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
Successful completion of a National Agency Check is required. Must possess skill in dealing with the public.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
