This announcement will be used to fill positions with an entry grade of GS-05, or GS-06 with a target grade of GS-06.
The minimum salary for grade GS-05 is $39,576, the maximum salary is $51,446. The minimum salary for grade GS-06 is $44,117, the maximum salary is $57,354.
Duties
Serves as Work Leader by identifying, distributing, and balancing the workload, assures timely accomplishment of assigned work, and keeps in touch with the status and progress of work on a daily basis.
Promotes team building, approves leave for short periods, provides input on performance effectiveness, and makes suggestions regarding personnel changes and/or recognition.
Reviews vouchers or other financial documents in detail for accuracy of information.
Explains procedures and problems and takes corrective actions as necessary to ensure the accuracy and propriety of transactions and records.
Responds to questions from customers or co-workers regarding accounting data, discrepancies, and procedures.
Monitor operations and compliance with established internal controls to identify problem areas, determine actions required to improve operating program effectiveness, and ensure and maintain the integrity of financial and accounting information.
For vacancies filled at less than the full performance level of the position, duties will be developmental in nature.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
For the GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as: performing duties that support the processing of financial or accounting transactions; entering data into automated systems; and correcting invalid entries.
For the GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as: validating, monitoring and maintaining accounting transactions and accounting records; entering accounting data into an automated financial system to process a wide variety of accounting transactions; and identifying and researching discrepancies in account transactions and making adjustments.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.
To be considered for the GS-05, applicants must have served in a GS-03 position or higher in the preceding 52 weeks on a permanent competitive appointment in the Federal service.
To be considered for the GS-06, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher in the Federal service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Education
GS-05 Substitution of Education for Experience: Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
GS-06 Substitution of Education for Experience: Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is
directly related to the work of the position being filled.
