About the Position: Serve as Park Manager for the Cape Cod Canal, responsible for the planning, organizing, executing, reviewing,& implementing of recreation & natural resource management programs.

Duties
Planning and carrying out of assignments in accordance with regulatory guidance, field office policies, and budgeting and stating constraints.
Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for staff of permanent and temporary members.
Executes a variety of natural resource management programs and activities concerning multiple use integration and coordination.
Develops and executes short- and long-range plans to address fish and wildlife, shoreline, and forest management issues, concerns, and developing problems.
Leads or supervises inspections of Canal lands to detect resource management problems such as bank erosion, plant disease, insect damage to vegetation, and illegal tree cutting.
Directs the annual and periodic Canal boundary surveys and addresses cases of encroachment or other intrusive activities of Canal land abutters.
Directs the implementation of recreation programs and policy for the Field Office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- Incumbent must possess a valid motor vehicle license and be qualified to drive government vehicles IAW Corps of Engineers standards.
- This position requires incumbent to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Incumbent is subject to work in inclement weather or be exposed to extreme cold or heat.
- Required to wear prescribed uniform as identified in organizational policies.
- Incumbent is subject to unscheduled overtime work at all hours in case of fire, accident or other emergency.
- Exposure to stinging insects (possible reaction - anaphylactic shock) and poisonous plants may be encountered.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a First Aid Certification

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Direct the implementation of recreation and/or Natural Resource programs and policies; 2) coordinate with stakeholders such as; state, federal, or local agencies in the development of cooperative plans for rescue, emergency, and/or law enforcement services; and 3) determine work schedules and/or priorities of a Natural Resource program.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
