The primary purpose of this position is to provide senior leaders/managers advice on effective and economical management of inspection and self-assessment practices; and to provide advice, training, and support to serviced organizations.
Duties
As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical authority, manages multifaceted MICT, IGEMS and assist with USAP, or WIT or AFIS and CCIP pre-inspection and inspection activities.
As senior Team/Project Lead, organizes, trains, and oversees the inspection team in the execution of inspection activities.
Develops a wide range of strategies, guidelines, and procedures to conduct comprehensive conventional and non-conventional inspection programs comprised of substantial variety and scope.
Formulates the annual MICT, IGEMS and assist with USAP, or WIT or AFIS and CCIP inspection schedule.
Represents the IG inspection function in a variety of meetings, in working groups, and other situations, including emergency management personnel in surrounding communities.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, General Inspection Investigation Enforcement and Compliance Series 1801.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-11), level, pay band (NH-02), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Specialized experience is described as: overall planning, implementation, oversight, and centralized control of a coordinated inspection team programs. Applying a variety of innovative analytical techniques to solve inspection process inefficiencies and formulate solutions. Researching and selecting a logical approach to inspections, relying on accepted planning practices and precedents. Interpreting complex laws and regulations, adjusts higher headquarters directives for unit/installation applicability and implementation, and makes recommendations for change.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Mastery level knowledge of DoD, Joint, and AF inspection and compliance policies, instructions, and practices involved in the AF inspection program; AF structure, mission, and programs; and instructions governing the organization's operations and plans programs.
2. Extensive knowledge of AF programs, structure, mission requirements, vulnerabilities, operational and security policies, and the work processes/operations of assigned organizations.
3. Expert level knowledge of analytical and evaluative techniques related to the identification, consideration, and resolution of difficult issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.
4. Skill and ability in gathering, assembling, and analyzing facts, drawing conclusions, devising solutions to problems, and identifying changes and trends.
5. Skill in conducting interviews with supervisors, functional experts, and employees to obtain information about organizational missions, functions, interrelationships, and work procedures.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, negotiate complex issues, provide training, and maintain good working relationships with others using tact, courtesy and diplomacy.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
