Duties

Identifies improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement using on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment. Determine whether parts should be cleaned or replaced. Install, adjust and set automotive systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and tests the completed product. Make adjustments and settings in the operation of tools and equipment used. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Must be available Monday through Friday, 6:00AM-4:00PM.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Ch. 2-15j(1) to include a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
• Must complete a medical examination.
• Stands and works in uncomfortable positions for extended periods.
• Frequently lift, handle, and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds.
• Work areas are dirty, oily and greasy. Constantly exposed to cuts, bruises and vehicle fluids which may cause burns or irritate the skin.

Qualifications

Candidates must: 1. Be able to lift and carry weights up to 70 pounds. 2. Possess a valid motor vehicle operators permit. 3. Have work experience performing the identified duties. 4. Be able to work independently. This experience must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position. Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of the various techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning and installing parts and components. Skill to make adjustments and settings and in the operation of tools and equipment used. Understanding of diagnostic and test equipment; the make-up and operation of systems and their interrelationship. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: knowledge, skills, abilities, additional screening criteria and other characteristics. Highly Preferred: In addition to the above candidate must have: 1. Possess the Pennsylvania Emissions Certification; OR 2. Possess the Pennsylvania Safety Inspection Class 1 Certification; OR 3. Possess experience as a trade school mechanic. Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official. All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection.
