About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security - TADSS, Fort Campbell, KY. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville.
Duties
Serve as an Exhibits Specialist in the Training Support Center and Device Fabrication Section.
Research technical documentation, DA Pamphlets and Army Regulations pertaining to training devices, and keeps abreast of state-of-the-art design and fabrication techniques and new materials.
Evaluate assigned training device products, exhibits, displays, models and equipment for overall performance and monitors maintenance and repair schedules necessary to keep equipment operational.
Receive work orders, develop the design, and determine types of material to use for each phase of work considering the purpose of the aid.
Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established procedures and assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload.
Requirements
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires a Pre-employment physical.
- This position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Experience designing and fabricating a wide variety of two and three dimensional training aid models and displays for aviation, chemical, engineer, field artillery, armor, weapons, and other related equipment and devices used in the organization-wide resident and non-resident instruction; 2) Experience working with metal, plastic and wood items involved in the construction, modification, installation, and maintenance of full size or scale modes, visual displays, training and electronic devices, and simulators; 3) Experience obtaining needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up as it relates to on the job training; and 4) Experience checking on work in progress and reviews completed work to see that supervisor's instructions have been met.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education Substitution for Specialized Experience: Successful completion of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL.M, if related from an accredited college or university with major study in Illustrative Design, Commercial Art, Fine Arts, Industrial Design, Architecture, Drafting, Interior Design, or other fields that are directly related to the work of the position. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience Substitution: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50 that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. You must meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements. Failure to do so may affect your rating or consideration for employment.
