You will serve as a MACHINIST INSPECTOR LEADER in the Quality Assurance Division of the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will instruct inspectors on appropriate inspection techniques. You will ensure that needed plans, prints, technical manuals, materials and tools are available for use at the work site. You will check the status of work in progress to determine if instruction, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met.

• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Experience reading and interpreting written technical material such as mil specifications, blueprints, drawings and Propeller Center Instructions (PCIs) or Engineering Service Requests (ESRs). Experience utilizing NFPC Non-Destructive Testing practices and policies. Experience utilizing the proper use and application of all precision measurement tools used for inspection at NFPC. Experience possessing and maintain Non-destructive test certifications for PT and VT from NNSY.
