Duties

Classifies, routes, and rates domestic and export shipments of hazardous and general supplies and conventional ammunition via all modes of transportation. Computes rates and routes for ammunition shipments from standing route orders on automatic export releases. Monitors and evaluates carriers' performance for refusing to pick up shipments. Maintains records of detention and demurrage charges to assure that bills submitted are paid timely and accurately. Serves as container coordinator for all containerized export shipments shipped by the Plant. Serves as a Configuration Control Board member and primary Depot Site Coordinator for the Munitions Transportation Management System-Field Module.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain Ammo-62 Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials Certification within 6 months of appointment into position and complete the Recertification Training every 2 years.

Qualifications

About the Position: Classifies, routes, and rates domestic and export shipments of hazardous and general supplies and conventional ammunition via all modes of transportation. Utilizes a thorough knowledge of technical guides and publications because of the wide variety of commodities shipped, modes of transportation used, and the unusual nature of traffic patterns. Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes: Classifying, routing, and rating domestic and export shipments of hazardous material, general supplies, and conventional ammunition via all modes of transportation. Utilizing traffic and transportation management regulations, procedures, methods and practices. Determining domestic selection of cost effective modes and transportation protective services with required accessories services. Preparing Transportation Control Movement Documents (TCMDs). Maintaining close working relationship with planning, shipment, and ammunition surveillance personnel. Reviewing and auditing all bills prior and after shipment for required data; and monitoring and evaluating carrier performance. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ComplianceComputer SkillsHazardous MaterialsTraffic Control Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
