Duties

You will be responsible for planning, managing and evaluating the technical quality, operation and maintenance and testing of the Combat Systems to include electronic testing, troubleshooting on Combat Systems. You will advise others based on your experienced in engineering management processes to successfully monitor and manage combat systems installation, activation and testing. You will perform risk management techniques used to analyze and evaluate the safety and reliability of electronic equipment and associated controls. You will coordinate, review, evaluate and resolve complex engineering data prepared by the shipbuilder, government contractor organizations or the government design agent to assure the Combat Systems are installed and tested. You will resolve Combat System engineering, installation, logistics, testing, electronic maintenance and operational issues and supporting special event testing to proof system software and to resolve unique problems. You will ensure proper systems integration and interface requirements are satisfied during shipboard installation and testing periods. You will provide support for planned and special electronic maintenance actions to ensure systems operability and availability. You will provide training to technical and engineering personnel and Ship’s Force as needed to support the successful installation and test of the electronics associated with the Combat System within a very complex environment. You will perform duties based on experience ordering, handling, and storage of military ammunition and explosives. You will perform duties based on familiarity with explosive safety and risk analysis/mitigation of ammunition and explosive operations.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field H - Production, Quality and Manufacturing Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft or ships for extended periods of time.
  • You must be capable of physical activities associated with working in a shipyard, such as observing ship construction and sea trials.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical support in resolving issues with the design, construction, installation, test, repair, or maintenance of combat, electrical, or electronic systems on naval surface ships.
