The Phoenix VA Health Care System is recruiting for one (1) Prosthetics Clerk (Office Automation), in the Prosthetics & Sensory Aid Service. This position provides clerical and administrative support to the Prosthetics Service, to ensure Veterans receive the appropriate medical equipment. The position specializes in data entry, and administrative tasks.

Duties

The Prosthetics Clerk (Office Automation) performs clerical, and data entry duties for the Prosthetics & Sensory Aids service. The Prosthetics Clerk documents an order from the beginning until the Veterans receives they prescribed order. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Greets and screens visitors to the office in order to assist or direct them to the proper person. Answers telephone calls from the P&SAS's main telephone line in a courteous and professional manner. Assists with telephone inquiries and/or directs patients to the appropriate staff member. Promptly returns or forwards messages. Reviews and distributes electronic P&SAS consults to appropriate purchasing agent. Assists veterans by issuing them appropriate requested items available in stock. She/he posts items issued from stock and completes the consult for services rendered in the P&SAS package. Receives/reviews and distributes in-coming mail to appropriate personnel. Assists purchasing agents with packaging and mailing of supplies to veteran's residence. Provide administration and clerical support to the P&SAS as needed. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/20/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing daily administrative duties of the department, assists with inquiries or concerns, and utilizes computer programs to accomplish duties. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 full years above high school education. This education is directly related to the position to be filled. (Transcripts are required.) OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and two years of education beyond high school. (Transcripts required.) *Please make sure that your experience is evident in your resume. Make sure total hours worked per week, if position was full-time or part-time, and if a position is federal the grade of the position is included; for each work experience entry.* You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: ClericalComputer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Work with Others Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Moderate walking is involved in collecting documentation/data needed to be recorded. Also, P&SAS storage room is located nearby in the same building so it would require some walking throughout the day. Some lifting and stretching in obtaining stock items, files, document, printer paper, office supplies. The greatest portion of this position is repetitive typing on a computer keyboard, and glare from the computer monitor. Incumbent when needed may be required to change ink cartridges in his/her printer, adding paper to the copier machine. Incumbent may be required to lift packages weighing up to 25 pounds and not to exceed 50 without assistance.
