You will serve as a TEMPORARY SERVICE SHOP SUPERVISOR I in the Production Services Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will review assigned job orders, workload data, plans, specifications, sketches and instructions; plans weekly/monthly work schedules and worker assignments of the work group. You will plan sequence of work operations for subordinates and any special work methods to be used; and coordinate availability of any special tools, materials, equipment, and assist with trade help required. You will attempt to foresee and eliminate potential bottlenecks (equipment breakdowns, material shortages etc.) by own coordination with other groups, or by recommending action to higher supervisory levels, if necessary. You will assign tasks, tools, equipment and materials to workers; lays out work; interprets plans and instructions, instructs workers on proper work methods, difficult work operations, use and care of equipment, and safe work practices. You will keep all work operations under close observation and control; resolves working problems; inspects work for quality and conformance with instructions/specifications, responsible for validity/correctness of all temporary services performed. You will maintain records of subordinates' time and manhour charges to assigned job orders; work progress, accidents, injuries, and causes of these; and prepare reports as required. You will train subordinates, rate employee performance, control/approve leave requests, recommend formal disciplinary or commendatory actions, promotions, demotions, transfers, separations, adoption of beneficial suggestions, etc. You will attend training programs and supervisors' conferences and transmits information to subordinates. You will elicit suggestions from subordinates; recommend any appropriate changes in procedures and work methods to higher supervisory levels and advising superiors on probable effects at working levels of changes proposed by others.   • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • Work assignments may involve working in hazardous duty areas and often requires irregular hours.
  • For nuclear assigned positions, you must successfully complete all required nuclear training and recertification training.
  • May occasionally be required to work "on-site" and at user locations (e.g., on ships and submarines) under variable conditions.
