About the position: This position will be assigned to the Eisenhower Golf Course, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado. This position includes benefits Requires good physical condition to work in various tiring and straining positions. Must be able to lift items weighing up to 75 pounds. Works in noisy area and is exposed to grease, dirt, and fumes.

Duties

Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs golf course equipment which includes: four-wheel gas power trickster, farm tractors, 3 and 5 gang hydraulic operated mowers, rotary mowers, greens mower, topdressing machine, spiker, verticutter, greens aerifier, fairway aerifier, fertilizer spreaders, power sand trap rakes, over seeder, lawn roller, spray units, sod cutter, sweepers, blowers, dump truck, backhoe, scoop loader, steam cleaner, snow blowers, pickup truck, and manlift, etc. Engines range up to eight cylinders and 70 HP. Sets up a preventative maintenance schedule on all assigned equipment following manufacturer's specifications. Repair gas and diesel engines and mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic components. Tears down, adjusts, repairs and reassembles equipment; runs operational checks on components of these systems following instructions contained in technical manuals. Rep laces parts as needed such as seals, bearings, reels, bed knife, hydraulic motors, hoses, shields, etc. Adjusts and/or replaces carburetors, fuel pumps, spark plugs, distributors, and switches. Repairs hydraulic lifting, turning and positioning systems including their me chemical, hydraulic and electrical controls such as those for the 3 and 5 gang hydraulically operated mowers. Uses a wide variety of test equipment. Checks and replaces oil; checks tire pressures and tread wear, brakes, grease, throttles, reel and bed knife cutting units, rotary blades, and other appropriate items. Uses varied tools and equipment in performing duties including drill press, grin ding and lapping machines, tire changes, hydraulic jacks, bearing pullers, and all types of hand tools common to the trade. Troubleshoots, tests and operates all golf course equipment before and after repairs are made and prior to putting equipment back online. Keeps current inventory on all tools, parts, and supplies. Keeps shop in orderly condition. Performs shop housekeeping. Enforces fire, safety and housekeeping rules. Maintains equipment repair and supply records. Determines level of bench stock inventory and makes suggestions for obtaining parts and tools from supplies. Prepares orders to ensure that equipment will not be down due to supply problems. Compares parts from suppliers to recommend the most economical parts and methods for repairs. Performs routine course maintenance work to include mowing greens, tees, fairways, roughs, raking bunkers, aerifications, seeding and fertilizing. This work is on a limited basis primarily needed for tournament preparation, aerifications or in case of manpower shortage. Assist in training other employees. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Applicant must have experience troubleshooting and repairing gas and diesel engines and experience working with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment systems. Must have experience in the use of bearing pullers, drill press, test equipment and other tools common to trade. Applicant must be able to read and communicate effectively in English. Applicant must have experience reading and interpreting manufacturer's operating and/or maintenance manuals. Manufacturer's equipment service schools (i.e. Toro, Jacobson, Cushman, etc.), and technical training (i.e. reel spin grinding) is desirable. Applicant must possess a valid driver's license and may be required to obtain a government motor vehicle operator permit. Usually works in noisy area, and is exposed to grease, dirt, and fumes. Subject to cuts, burns, shocks, strains, and skin irritations from solvents, lube, and fuels. Must be able to lift items weighing up to 75 pounds. Education
