This position is within the VISN 12 Great Lakes Fiscal Service (GLFS) and located at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, 2500 Overlook Terrace, Madison, WI 53705.
Duties
This position serves as an Accounting Technician and is organizationally aligned under the GLFS Accounting Section and is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and classifying a variety of complex accounting documents and transactions, such as systems with extensive subdivision of accounts, frequent and varied adjustments to accounts, and a number of different programs.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/16/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
To qualify for this position at the GS-6 level, you must meet the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in Federal Service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: Knowledge of accounting procedures related to appropriation funding, allotments, obligations and disbursements; Ability to analyze the interrelationship of accounts that are affected by varied transactions; Knowledge of a variety of procurement transactions and documents, accounting symbolic codes, account structures, and procedures for setting up liquidating obligations; Knowledge of procedures used to enter, modify, retrieve, and delete information in an automated general ledger system; Knowledge of manual regulations, procedures, and policies governing the double entry accounting system.
