You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Enviromental Division ofNAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND MARIANAS.

Duties

You will provide consultation services, professional guidance and general assistance to the JRM and DOD Installation Environmental Program Managers. You will prepare and review special environmental studies assessing the environmental impacts of military mitigation alternatives, which may affect the use or operation of military programs. You will prepare or manage the preparation of NEPA documents or special environmental/planning studies. You will review Navy Shore Facilities planning documents to identify environmental problems and additional studies and documentation requirements. You will represent the Navy in meetings and conferences within DOD senior leadership, activity personnel and elected/appointed officials at local, regional and federal levels.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Preparing and reviewing environmental planning, providing technical guidance on environmental compliance for military operations, exercises or construction projects, reviewing environmental planning studies/projects and making recommendation on potential environmental issues and conflicts. Education

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must posses
  1. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
or
  1. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
