This position is located in the Facility Transportation Section of the Logistics Service at VA San Francisco Health Care system - Ukiah VA Clinic in Ukiah, CA. The Motor Vehicle Operator's work includes the operation of gasoline, diesel, or electronic powered wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers, or to tow or recover equipment.

Duties

DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received. Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Operating wheeled vehicles, wheel-mounted tractors; or engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler-type traction Operating vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Vehicles are operated over uneven terrain, over improved/unimproved roads and through congested areas on both short and long hauls Driving vehicles in restricted traffic environments on government installations, over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions Operating truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches Hauling cargo and fuel, transporting passengers, or tows/recovers equipment Performing operator maintenance Performing other related duties Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 08:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m. Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not Approved

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The employee exerts moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on tractors to hook up service lines, and in climbing on the trailer to load and unload or tie down cargo. WORK CONDITIONS: Vehicles are operated in all types of traffic and weather conditions on public roads and there is exposure to the danger of serious accidents. The employee drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange system. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications.
