Duties
You will test, troubleshoot, service, repair, and replace a variety of electronic alarms, including integrated digital fire and intrusion alarms, carbon monoxide systems, chlorine monitoring systems, and sewage lift station control systems.
You will prepare own system diagrams and schematics in the absence of technical materials to troubleshoot a conglomeration of parts and components.
You will read, interpret, and apply a variety of formula; e.g., resonant frequency formula, variations thereof, inductance and capacitance resistance formula.
You will perform electrical work necessary in construction, maintenance, and repair of building facilities.
You will install, maintain, and repair electric power and lighting lines and cables associated with circuits.
You will install transformers, converters, circuit breakers, and similar equipment where required.
You will plan and lay out routing and arrangement of systems, circuits, controls and equipment using building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current CPR certification.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Installing, testing, repairing and performing preventive maintenance on various fire alarm and security systems, digital switch systems, circuits, equipment, and controls; 2) Interpreting and applying building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering draws; 3) Using hand tools and test equipment (e.g., wire cutters/strippers, drills/soldering irons, voltmeters, ammeters, wattmeter, ohmmeters, test meters, and test lamps). I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
