Duties
Delegate work based on consideration of the limitations and strengths of subordinates.
Instruct in new procedures to keep employees abreast to current policies and methods.
Analyze issues with the repair or maintenance of equipment in order to recommend solutions.
Operate using sound judgment in order to determine proper workload and adjust accordingly so the
shop can operate productively.
Identify employee training needs within the shop in order to correct.deficiencies in work.
Approve schedules/leave of subordinates based on the needs of the organization.
Counsel employees on problems and union representatives in order to maintain a good working
environment.
Counsel employees on problems and/or complaints and union representation.
Conduct interviews in a professional manner in order to obtain the most qualified employees.
Administer disciplinary action when necessary in order to maintain appropriate work ethics and shop
conduct.
Investigate work-related problems amongst co-workers in order to find solutions.
Develop performance standards.
Monitor the progress of assignments in order for the shop to stay on schedule.
Delegate work to subordinates clearly as to avoid misunderstandings in expectations.
Compile weekly/monthly work schedules based on deadlines and priorities of the shop.
Review work in progress and completion in order to maintain production reports and records.
Determine equipment, supplies, and maintenance required for each task as to not delay work.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
- This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
- This position requires a Class A CDL within 90 days of employment.
- This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
- This position requires a Secret Security Clearance.

Applicants must meet the screen-out element to be considered further. To meet the screen-out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Establishing deadlines and priorities; passing on instructions and assigning tasks to be performed by subordinates; reviewing work and ensuring shop policies and procedures are being followed; identifying training needs within the shop; and maintaining production reports and records. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Works on top of, under, or in tight compartments of equipment in cramped and awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning part assemblies and equipment. Occasionally lifts heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Work is sometimes performed from ladders or work platforms at varying heights.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and occasionally outside. The employee must frequently stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time. Employee may be exposed to drafts, dirt, grease, oils, and vehicle exhaust fumes. Subject to burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and strains.
