You will serve as a DATA SCIENTIST in the PROCUREMENT GROUP of NAVAL AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND.

Duties

You will generate reports using application software (e.g., Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software) to provide status or compile statistics. You will identify and resolve problems from conflicting requirements between existing system functionality and new requirements. You will coordinate technical project management efforts (e.g. design, system development, evaluations, certifications) for program success.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field A Level 2. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Demonstrate advanced working knowledge of data analytics, statistical analysis, and proper application of advanced mathematical formulas; 2) Identify and assess aspects of alternative decision (options), including the impact and implications of each, to select a course of action for an aircraft weapons system; 3) Combine, analyze, and interpret large or complex data sets and making data-driven recommendations; 4) Formulate, validate, and maintain accurate and responsive data visualization, e.g. Tableau; 5) Program an application or model using various computer programming languages, e.g., Python, etc.; 6) Develop statistical software and computer program to perform predictive analysis of statistical data and findings for an aircraft. Education

Basic Requirements:
  1. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

  1. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
