About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas. Duties

Coordinate Occupational Health, Medical Surveillance, Hearing Conservation and Medical Records Keeping activities for District. Conduct Safety and Health assessment visits of work sites for both construction and operation activities. Assist in the Safety and Occupational Health Management System process (CESOHMS) Develop and prepare safety regulations and guidelines applicable to Medical Surveillance activities. Provide administrative guidance and contract coordination for the Occupational Health Programs (OHP). Primary Medical Records Custodian (MRC) which includes maintenance, physical security, transfer, and archiving of employees' medical records. Contract Officer Representative (COR) for OHP and safety related programs. Work closely with the Industrial Hygienist and Safety and Occupational Health community to identify and establish Similar Exposure Groups (SEG). Provide safety and health training to both District and field staff. Coordinate the first aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training programs, and oversee the District’s Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) program for the District. Act as a liaison between outsourced health agencies/providers and the District.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes (1) conducting segments of safety and occupational health surveys or inspections; (2) drafting reports of findings on physical conditions and unsafe practices or situations; and (3) proposing corrective actions for elimination or control of unsafe conditions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or master's or equivalent graduate degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Safety and HealthSafety and Occupational Health (SOH) Hazard Identification Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
