About the Position: Serves as the Missile Maintenance Division Chief. Viewed as the highest-level subject matter expert for work accomplished under his/her direction. Supervises multi-site missile maintenance operations within the strategic support area.

Duties

Planning and establishing long range work requirements and schedules Supervise a division of subject matter experts and artisans who troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, integrate, test, and inspect. Determines resource requirements, facilities requirements, recruiting strategies, materials and a number of subordinates and types of skill necessary to accomplish long range work schedules Allocates resources and distributes work to organizational segments or groups under incumbent’s control Analyzes work plans developed by the Maintenance and Demil Planning Division and incorporates them with his subordinate operations Ensures the completion of all programs according to schedule and cost. Incorporates and overseas security classification requirements associated with precision guided munitions sectionalization and component level repair across special access program facilities (SAPF) Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed. Maintains balanced workloads across disparate geographical areas by shifting assignments, workers, and other resources under own control to achieve the most effective work operations Participates with management officials and/or other personnel to develop qualitative and/or quantitative work standards. Assures that subordinate supervisors effectively carry out policies to achieve management's objectives. Recommends promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors, makes formal appraisals of their performance, overseas divisional level recognition efforts, and determines training needs. Serves as a management representative at hearings, meetings, and negotiations involving labor management relations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • A one year supervisory probationary period is required.
  • Pre-employment and annual physical examinations are required.
  • Pre-employment and random drug testing is required.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Occasional TDY travel is required.
  • Ammunition certification requirements IAW AMC-R 350-4 within one year of employment.

You must be able to supervise personnel in the repair, rebuilding, testing, and adjustment of electronic subassemblies and components of munitions and explosives, working under normal supervision of a higher level supervisor who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
