You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT(MIL/OA) in the Manpower/Personnel Department at Navy Reserve Center NRC LAS VEGAS.

Duties

You will serve as the Human Resources Assistant providing all personnel services regarding reserve pay/personnel accounts to support the Navy Reserve Center’s mission and Objectives. You will maintain and enter new data into Enlisted Service Records. You will track and monitor receipt of service records, verify record upon receipt, and review record for completeness and accuracy. You will gain personnel to new reserve units, transfer personnel, and prepare personnel for Retirement/Fleet Reserve. You will enter and process separations, administrative discharge, and extension of enlistment and reenlistment actions. You will assist units attached to the Navy Reserve Center with management of the Reserve Unit Action Document (RUAD) ensuring each unit is provided an up-to-date RUAD prior to each drill weekend.

Requirements

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Position is designated as a Noncritical/Sensitive and IT level II position IAW Chapter 5 of SECNAV M-5510.30.
  • Work requires the employee to successfully complete a two-week Reserve Personnel and Pay Management course within six months of employment. The unit’s Commanding Officer may waive this requirement.

Qualifications

06- Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in the completion of assignments which involve a variety of technical personnel administrative work, which requires practical knowledge of reserve personnel administration, reserve pay, and reserve program systems and procedures. Experience receiving, reviewing, and processing military HR actions for military members, dependents and gathering and utilizing information to determine entitlements processing military actions. Experience maintaining and auditing reserve pay and personnel accounts. Experience determining reserve pay and travel entitlements and deductions. Experience preparing financial/accounting reports related to reserve pay and inactive duty training travel transactions. Experience entering and processing military separations, administrative discharge, and extension of enlistment and Re-enlistment actions. Experience with Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR) for Uniformed Service Members. Note: This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
