You will serve as a RESEARCH PSYCHOLOGIST in the WARFIGHTER PERFORMANCE DIV of NAVSUBMEDRSCHLAB NEW LONDON CT.
THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Dept. of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the DoD.
Duties
You will carry out research that contributes to the general knowledge in the fields of Industrial/Organizational Psychology, particularly assessment development and validation, training/programmatic evaluation, and work motivation.
You will develop programmatic plans for multi-year projects to conduct basic research, applied research, and/or device test and evaluation.
You will serve as a Principal/Associate Investigator, carrying out your own research and reporting the findings to the Warfighter Performance Department, project sponsors, and other organizations within the U.S. Navy and the scientific community.
You will serve as Project Leader, providing technical direction to other researchers, technicians, and military personnel.
You will collaborate with or oversee the work of others in the department.

Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-14 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience directing independent research programs
Experience designing and analyzing psychological experiments
Experience evaluating and assessing research data
Experience preparing written products that provide and explain scientific information
Experience giving technical direction to research assistants carrying out research
To qualify for the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing and implementing independent research programs
Experience executing psychological screening and assessments
Experience writing scientific articles and reports for scientific and lay communities
Experience leading and training research teams to deliver products on time and within budget
