About the Position: You will work under the general supervision of the Logistics Management Specialist, Transportation Division, Fleet Management Section. You will receive assignments directly from the Chief, Vehicle Operations and Management Section related to the management and administration of USACE-owned and GSA-leased vehicles and engineer equipment.

Duties

Oversee the fleet management and fleet maintenance program as outlined in DOD,Army, and United States Army Corps of Engineers regulations governing fleet management and maintenance policies. Provide technical advice regarding recommendations and/or problems pertaining to fleet maintenance functions. Collaborate with delivery point personnel directly involved in the GSA Fleet Management Program to ensure customer and supplier needs are met. Plan, coordinate, and manage vehicle rotation program to achieve maximum fleet efficiency and economy for customer activities. Analyze information to determine retention/repair of disposal actions of used vehicles or equipment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent may volunteer for assignments subject to 24-hour on call, in the event of an emergency. This service may require irregular working hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include other duties.

Specialized Experience:GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes management of Government-owned or leased vehicle fleet, ranging from sedans to heavy trucks and special purpose vehicles; analyzing information to determine retention/repair of disposal actions of used vehicles or equipment; participating in assurance of operational readiness of an extensive vehicle and equipment fleet in the areas of major maintenance, operational maintenance, services and related administrative policies and procedures; conducting annual inspections and identifying problem areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceDecision MakingInformation ManagementPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
