Duties
Conduct inquiries into a wide range of complaints and requests for assistance to recommend appropriate and conclusive action.
Develop, coordinate, and lead inspections directed by the commanding general.
Coordinate external inspections, investigations, and inquiries conducted by higher level commands.
Investigates the full spectrum of Command functions; including but not limited to acquisition, procurement, training, separation of personnel, management and leadership systems, applications of available resources, and personnel and AFC security.
Serve as point for coordination, action, and review of IG reports generated at higher levels, as well as other reports of interest to the IG (GAO, AAA, and Congressional and Presidential inquiries).
Execute inspector general functions IAW with AR 20-1.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Business Travel (TDY) may be required up to 20% of the time.
- Position requires incumbent maintain certification in accordance with AR 20-1 and practice IG attributes consistent with same.
- This position requires the employee to successfully complete the Headquarters, Department of the Army, Inspector General Course and to successfully pass the recertification training every four years.
- Secret security clearance required.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Processing of IG actions requests using the IGNET system; (2) Conducts interviews and performs analysis to determine motivating causes; (3) personally conducts thorough, complex, and/or sensitive investigations and inquiries; (4) planning, executing, and follow-up of inspections directed by the command; AND (5) Analyzing inspection and investigation trends to identify deficiencies and recommendations to enhance the command's mission readiness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower level/grade position in the Federal service DB-2, or GS11 equivalent.
